Frequently asked questions.
For whom is Pahulay Retreat?
Pahulay is for the overworked, the dreamers, the seekers of rest, and the ones who feel called to reconnect with themselves. Whether you're burned out, at a crossroads, or simply craving stillness and space, this retreat is for you. No prior experience in yoga or surfing is necessary — just an open heart and a willingness to slow down, breathe deeper, and come home to yourself.
I don’t know how to surf! Can I still participate in Pahulay Retreat?
Absolutely. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced surfer, Pahulay meets you where you are. Our surf sessions are guided by patient and experienced local instructors who will support you at your pace. It’s all about experiencing the joy of the ocean — not about performance.
Is Pahulay a women-only retreat?
Not at all. Pahulay welcomes all genders and identities with open arms. The retreat is about human experience, healing, and connection — beyond any label. Everyone is invited to rest, realign, and rise.
Can I bring my own surfboard to Pahulay?
Yes, feel free to bring your own board if you'd like! We have a surf wrack available inside the garden of the Villa. If you don’t have one, we have high-quality boards available for all levels, and our team will ensure you're paired with the right one for your experience and comfort.
How do I confirm and complete my reservation?
Once you’ve filled out the registration form on our website, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details, including payment instructions. A deposit is required to secure your spot, and the balance is due 14 days before the retreat begins. Your reservation becomes binding upon confirmation. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for cancellation policies.
How do I get to Siargao Island?
Getting to Siargao is part of the adventure!
By air: The quickest way is flying into Sayak Airport (IAO), with direct flights available from Manila or Cebu.
By ferry: You can also take a ferry from Surigao City to Dapa Port in Siargao, which takes approximately 2–3 hours.
Land & sea combo: Travel to Surigao City by land, then board the ferry to Siargao for a scenic route.
We’re happy to help guide you with logistics once you book — we’ll make sure you arrive with ease.
Which kind of visa do I need to travel to the Philippines?
Most nationalities are eligible for a 30-day visa-free stay in the Philippines, which can usually be extended if needed. However, please check with the Philippine embassy or consulate in your country for the latest entry requirements and travel advisories. We recommend ensuring your passport is valid for at least six months from your arrival date.
How far is Pahulay from the beach?
Pahulay is nestled in a quiet, secluded corner of Siargao with direct access to a private beach. Step out of your villa into a lush garden that opens right onto the ocean — where the waves are your soundtrack and the sea is always just a few barefoot steps away.
What time are check-in & check-out for Pahulay?
Check-in begins at 2:00 PM on Day 1, allowing you to settle in and arrive slowly. The retreat officially starts with a welcome gathering and dinner. Check-out is by 11:00 AM on the final day. We’ll close the retreat with a final morning practice and nourishing breakfast so you leave grounded and full.
What do I do with my valuables?
Each room is equipped with a personal safe for your small valuables. For larger items such as laptops or cameras, we offer secure storage upon request. While Siargao is generally safe, we always recommend taking basic precautions with your belongings.
Will I need a plug adapter?
The Philippines uses plug types A, B, and C and operates on a 220V/60Hz power supply. If you're traveling from outside Asia, you may need a universal adapter. Basic adapters are also available at local shops on the island. Please note that occasional power outages (blackouts) can occur on the island — we recommend using surge protection when charging valuable electronics, as we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused during outages. Villa Baya Dhyana has its own generator in case of any power outages.
Are there towels in the rooms?
Yes, bath towels are provided and refreshed during your stay. We kindly ask you to bring your own beach towel for surfing and ocean dips.
Is there internet access?
Yes, we offer free Wi-Fi throughout the retreat space. While we encourage digital downtime to fully immerse in the experience, you’ll still be connected if needed.
